Why street photography?
I am passionate about capturing scenes of everyday life on the streets.
Depending on whether you ask a physicist or a philosopher, the right now can last anywhere from Planck time (10 to the -43 seconds) to 200 milliseconds. Neuroscientists claim the occasion is actually perceived by our brains in no more than 2.5 seconds. Be it spectacular or mundane, memorable or not, one thing is certain: the ephemeral present slips away unnoticed in the blink of an eye; gone forever.
But a camera captures it!
The expression of surprise on the onlooker’s face. An endearing moment between two relatives. The actions of a crowd at a festival. And the unexpected turn of events on the sidewalk, or the park, or the cafe. Moments frozen in time, captured in 1/500 of a second and immortalized forever. The resulting photograph is the truest representation of that briefest of moments: the present. Much like a memory, though less abstract. More vivid and precise. And with the extraordinary visual impact that only a photograph can deliver.
To me, it’s nothing short of magic.
